Company Portal apps: iOS, Android and Mac OS

Company Portal mobile apps

With the proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace, employees can and do, work from just about anywhere. To stay productive, this mobile workforce demands consistent access to corporate resources and data from any location on any device. This ‘bring your own device’ (BYOD) trend has introduced significant challenges for IT administrators who want to enable enterprise mobility while ensuring that corporate resources are protected from unauthorized access.

Company Portal wireframeThe Intune Company Portal apps are an integral part of Microsoft’s Enterprise Mobility & Security product. Companies using EMS for mobile device management provide these apps to their employees, which enable them to enroll and manage their personal devices, install company apps and store apps, and access documents.

For several years, I owned the experience for the iOS, Android and MacOS Company Portal apps and worked with the Microsoft Intune - Device Experiences team, based in Cambridge, MA. My work with the team consisted of remote engagement to flesh out UX for new and existing app features, combined with regular travel to Cambridge to work with the team in-person. At times, I worked closely with team management on business issues, such as service usage, industry feedback or competition, where UX could address the problem.

Deliverables: Sketches, workflow, wireframes, prototypes, usability findings, visual design, design specs, fit & finish review on the app builds.
